Play On Workshop
Last month we kicked off our 3 year residency with Play On with a week long workshop returning award winning writer Naomi Iizuka back to the Bay Area as we explored her translation of Richard II and! started working on two new plays of hers!
We held a public sharing and event putting the Shakespeare translation side by side with the new plays and read excerpts from all. We are most interested and excited in experiencing these two worlds together the new translations of Shakespeare (NOT adaptations) and ! these new plays
We are pushing to premiere a Repertory Premiere of a new Shakespeare translation from Play On with a new play developed by the Magic Theatre by the SAME WRITER with the same performance company for both productions embodying them both with the bodies historically not featured in Shakespeare productions- POC, WOC, QPOC- but pure Shakespeare text.
Join us for an intimate evening where will share for the first time 3 of the writers Play On Shakespeare and the Magic Theatre are working with together on their new Shakespeare translations and! their new plays.
