On Saturday May 11, 2024 Magic Theatre’s Education Program Making Magic: Arts and the Community will present the second installment to Making Magic: A Masterclass, featuring San Francisco Bay Area theatre’s legends and local artists who have made indelible impact in the community. 

Making Magic: A Masterclass is a new initiative within Magic Theatre’s Education geared to provide tools, resources, and techniques to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) who identify as writers and dramaturgs who are new, emerging, or established in the field.

This workshop event is designed to celebrate and provide support to Writers and Dramaturgs of color in the San Francisco Bay Area region. Magic Theatre's Making Magic: Art & Community's Writing & Dramaturgy Workshop aims to foster a sense of community, provide valuable resources, and encourage the flourishing of creativity within a diverse cultural context. 


The session will hopefully provide any of the combination below, but not limited to:
 -Crafting authentic and compelling dialogues
 -Exploring techniques to create characters with depth and complexity
 -Understanding narrative structures and techniques for engaging storylines
 -Tailoring writing techniques for specific mediums such as stage plays, screenplays, or novels.
 -Techniques for conducting research and incorporating authentic details to enhance credibility and realism.
 -Understanding how cultural and social context influence storytelling.
 -Exploring collaborative writing tools particular to playwrights working with directors, actors, and other collaborators.
 
Date: May 11, 2024, Saturday.
 

Workshop Location: Landmark Building D. Fort Mason Arts Complex, 2 Marina Blvd. SF, CA. Parking spaces are plentiful and free inside the complex. 
Easily accessible by public transit via bus lines 49, 45, 30, and 8 (from SF).

Session A: 10AM - 1PM TBD Masterclass Artist
Session B: 1:30 - 4:30PM Jeannie Barroga

Session C: 5 - 8PM Michael Gene Sullivan
