Bill Pullman

Bill Pullman
(Creator & Director) received a BA from the State University College at Oneonta, and an MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  He has taught directing in the Theatre Department at Montana State University in Bozeman.  His TV directing credits include the anthology TV series Night Visions and the TNT movie The Virginian (Wrangler Award/Best Picture, 2000). His theatre acting work includes the Broadway world premiere of Edward Albee's The Goat (Drama Desk nomination), as well as productions of new plays by Beth Henley (with Holly Hunter) and Thomas Babe (with Tom Waits).  He was recently nominated for the Helen Hayes award for his work in the Kennedy Center production of The Subject Was Roses. He has had a celebrated career as a movie actor appearing over 50 films. Bill has been an "Ambassador" for the MS Society since 1998, serves on the board of Cornerstone Theatre Company (using theatre collaborations to engage the issues of underserved communities), and has helped facilitate health programs in his hometown of Hornell, NY where his father practiced medicine.

(Ensemble) is thrilled to be back at the Magic and to be a part of the Expedition 6 team.  Favorite credits include: The Rules of Charity (Magic Theatre); Lobby Hero and The Shape of Things (Aurora Theatre Company); 4 Adverbs (Word for Word); 43 Plays for 43 Presidents (Rough & Tumble); I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (Marines Memorial Theatre); Nickel & Dimed (TheatreWorks & Brava); Cinderella (SF Shakespeare Festival).  Arwen graduated with degrees in Theatre and Psychology from Wesleyan University, is the singer/songwriter/guitarist in the local rock band Coraline, and trains in trapeze and aerial silk at the Circus Center of San Francisco.  Love and thanks to Dave.

Sally Clawson

Sally Clawson
(Ensemble) is pleased to return to the Magic, having last been seen in John Belluso¹s The Rules of Charity. Other theatre credits include Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Fetes de la Nuit), Pacific Repertory Theatre (Timon of Athens, Measure for Measure), Bus Barn Stage Co. (Enchanted April, Jacob Marley¹s Christmas Carol), Shotgun Players (The Miser School Tour, Four Echoes), and Crowded Fire (Slow Falling Bird).  Also a professional dancer, Ms. Clawson toured internationally with the Margaret Jenkins Dance Company, is a principal dancer with Stephen Pelton Dance Theatre, and was nominated for an Isadora Duncan award for outstanding performance.

   
Nora El Samahy

Nora el Samahy*
(Ensemble) was last seen in the New York (at PS122) and San Francisco productions of  foolsFURY’s Devil on All Sides. She was in Magic Theatre’s production of The Black Eyed by Betty Shamieh and will be performing in Shamieh’s Territories in January of 2008.  Since living in the Bay Area, Nora has worked with: Traveling Jewish Theatre, Campo Santo at the Intersection for the Arts, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Exit Theater, Theatre Rhinoceros, Woman’s Will, Shotgun Players, Golden Thread Productions, African American Shakespeare Company, and the San Francisco Shakespeare Company.  Nora is a certified pilates instructor and co-owner of Studio 74 Pilates with business partner Jennifer Moulton.  Love and respect to her family and friends.

   
Karl Hanover

Karl Hanover*
(Ensemble) is a graduate of the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver.  Although this is his first production with the Magic Theatre, he has worked with several other Bay Area companies including CalShakes, Berkeley Rep, Upon These Boards, TheatreWorks, and the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival.  Regionally he has been seen at the Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, Kennedy Center, New York Stage and Film Festival, and with the Denver Center Theatre Company, and most recently he performed the voices of Atlas and Fontaine for the upcoming computer game “BioShock”.  He is delighted to be continuing his involvement with Expedition 6.

   
Robert Karma Robinson

Robert Karma Robinson*
(Ensemble) is a recent graduate from the National Theatre Conservatory in Denver. Since graduation, he has moved back to his native NYC, where he has been most recently seen in Suzan Lori Parks’ 365 Days/ 365 Plays at the Public Theatre and also in Ronan Noone’s The Blowing of Baile Gall at the Vineyard Playhouse on Martha’s Vineyard. Other credits include a bevy of shows with Denver Center Theatre Company, including A Flea in Her Ear (directed by Kent Thompson) and The Madwoman by Israel Hicks. Rob would like to thank Bill and the Magic for bringing him to the West Coast for the first time to work on this new and exciting piece.

Kate Boyd
(Set & Light Design) designs scenery and lighting in the Bay Area.  Recent projects include scenery for Private Jokes Public Places at Aurora Theater, lighting for The Long Christmas Ride Home at Magic Theatre, scenery for The Marriage of Figaro at Center Rep. Other sets include Splittin’ the Raft at Marin Theatre; Blue/Orange at Aurora Theatre, Nickel and Dimed for TheatreWorks and BRAVA.  For the Magic Theatre: The Sex Habits of American Women, First Love, Schrödinger’s Girlfriend, and Summertime. At Brava, she designed lights for Culture Clash and Stop Kiss. Kate teaches design and was a recipient of the Gerbode Design Fellowship with the Working Women Festival.

Robert Davidson
(Trapeze Choreography), Head of Movement at the National Theatre Conservatory, was the original movement and sound collaborator for Expedition 6.  Formerly director of his own dance company, he has choreographed and toured throughout the world since 1987.  His signature aerial works include Rapture: Rumi as well as Airborne: Meister Eckhart for 45 aerialists, dancers, and singers. Formerly on the graduate faculty of the School of Drama at the University of Washington, he is also the first certified Master Teacher of the Skinner Releasing Technique. His academic training is in music, specializing in piano, voice, and music composition from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Callie Floor+
(Costume Design) earned her BFA from the University of Utah and her Higher Diploma in Theatre Design from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London.  Since coming to the Bay Area in 1987, she has designed for many Bay Area theatres including ACT, ACT MFA Program, West Bay Opera, San Francisco Mime Troupe, Zaccho Dance Theatre, and Aurora Theatre.  She is happy to return to Magic Theatre, having last designed Hopper Collection in 2006.  Recent projects include Hysteria for Aurora Theatre and The Subject Tonight is Love for Marin Theatre Company.  Callie is the resident designer for the California Revels and currently holds the position of Costume Rentals Supervisor for ACT.

Gary Grundei
(Original Music) is an award-winning composer, pianist, and sound designer whose music has been heard at the Kennedy Center, Denver Center, New York Stage and Film, Boulder’s Chautauqua Community House, Naropa University, Occidental College, the Ohio State University, and various modern dance performances. He has worked with Meredith Monk, among others, and is the founder of the experimental music ensemble, the living room project.

Sara Huddleston
(Sound Design / Production Director) Recently relocated from Los Angeles, where she had been designing sound and scenery for over seven years, Sara joined the Magic staff in May as their Production Director and Resident Sound Designer. Favorite design credits include: The Boomerang Kid (Powerhouse Theatre), Preludes and Fugues (Son of Semele Ensemble), In On It (Encore Theatre Company), American Standard (Firefly Productions), How I Learned to Drive (Vox Humana), Swimming in the Shallows (Meta Theatre Company), and A Human Interest Story (Son of Semele Ensemble). She is very proud to be a part of this exciting production.

Jennifer McCray Rincon
(Associate Director) has been the Head of Acting at the National Theatre Conservatory since 1991. She received a BA from Yale University and an MFA in Directing from the Yale School of Drama. After Yale she was the staff repertory director for The Acting Company under the artistic direction of her longtime colleague Gerald Gutierrez. She has received many awards including an NEA directing fellowship at Playwrights Horizons under artistic director Andre Bishop, a Fulbright Teaching fellowship in Bogota, Colombia at the Teatro Popular de Bogota, the Boris Sagal directing grant at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and the John Shubert scholarship at the Yale School of Drama. She was the Artistic Director of the Lizard Head Theatre Company in Telluride where she directed Proof, Sylvia, All in the Timing, and The Syringa Tree. Ms. Rincon has also directed productions at the Denver Center Theatre Company and at El Centro Su Teatro.

Angela Nostrand
(Stage Manager) is thrilled to return to the Magic.  Recent credits include: The Long Christmas Ride Home and The God of Hell (Magic Theatre); Bosoms and Neglect, Private Jokes, Public Places, and The Price (Aurora); Restoration Comedy (Stanford Summer Theatre); Charlie Cox Runs with Scissors and The Pavilion (Marin Theatre Company); Family Alchemy and Rose (Traveling Jewish Theatre); The Wonderful Story of Zaal, The Killing Blanket and The Master Maid (Word for Word's School and Library Tour); Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, The Laramie Project, The Last Train to Nibroc, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife and others (The B Street Theatre); and The People's Temple (Berkeley Rep).

Lucia Scheckner
(Assistant Director) most recently worked with The Cutting Ball Theatre on Taming of the Shrew, directed by Rob Melrose, and Woyzeck, directed by Adriana Baer. Lucia has also collaborated with Just Theater on the Bay Area premiere of Anne Washburn's I Have Loved Strangers and with Aurora Theatre on The Birthday Party, directed by Tom Ross. She has an MFA in dramaturgy and script development from Columbia University.
