We have a strange address. It’s true; we know it. People ask us all the time: “Really? Just ‘Fort Mason Center, Building D?’ You don’t have a number?” Nope, we don’t have a number. But it’ll make sense when you get here, really!
A lot of people have never been to Fort Mason Center–I hadn’t, before I started working here. And that’s a shame, because I think it’s one of the most beautiful areas in all of San Francisco, a city already renowned for its beauty. Don’t believe me? This morning when I got to work, I realized that if I spun 360 degrees I could see Alcatraz, Sutro Tower, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Palace of Fine Arts, Marina Green, and of course the lovely Fort Mason Center without even leaving the parking lot. Show me another place in the city where you can do that!
But because I know many of you have never had the pleasure of a trip to Fort Mason Center, I went on a little photo safari for you yesterday and brought back evidence of our superior location. I’m just an amateur photographer with a point-and-shoot, though–if you want some really spectacular photos, check out all the photos tagged with “Fort Mason” on Flickr (23, 852 at the time of this writing).
So here are my photos of Fort Mason Center, otherwise known as “the walk I get to take every day on my lunch break.” I’ve included some of my favorite Flickr photos at the end, too. Enjoy!

Hello, I am happy you used my photo (of the wind profile Exploratorium exhibit). I have been a subscriber for several years and love the plays the Magic puts on.
By the way, another place I like in Fort Mason is Greens Restaurant which is a great place for a pre-theatre dinner.
